Firstly, like all Columbia products...they are cut small. I wear a 10 or 12 jeans, but I ordered the Large. If you wear a 12-14....you'll never get these zipped. That said...since I ordered the large, the fit was perfect, but again....I'm a size 10 in fashion slacks and jeans. I have a small waist. The waist band in these pants is velcro-adjustable...another plus. The quality of material is excellent. The pant is totally waterproof (Omni-Tech). The claim that these pants will keep you warm is factual(Omni-Heat). In 20 degree weather, I wore a pair of tights under the High Volt Pant and was a little bit cool to start. But, like Columbia's Omni-Heat claim, the pant holds in body heat and I was comfortably warm in 10 minutes of hiking even though the (cold & damp) ambient air had a bite to it. I hiked up hill for one hour and never got over heated due to the built-in wicking. During high aerobic activity like snowshoeing and skiing, you'll be comfortably warm wearing very light tights or other baselayer,yet not overheating.

I road-bike around 150 to 200 miles a week. I have an XL head and I found this helmet when searching for a helmet. This helmet fit me just fine. I unfortunately had a crash on my bike at ~30 miles an hour and this helmet ended up taking the brunt of the crash. The helmet ended up with a crack running through it and I ended up with a couple bruises but otherwise fine.

I highly recommend it and want to remind everyone about the importance of having the right size helmet.

This truly might be my dream trail shoe. I've only been out for a couple runs so far (each about 7 miles on muddy, tropical forest, rooty, single-track) so my 4 stars is only because I can't truly comment on durability yet. I'm very enthusiastic though. I've long been a huge fan of the *mechanics* of the barefoot craze, but I still need some protection for the ruggedness of trails I typically run. I'm always finding myself compromising somewhere...a "minimalist" trail shoe allows for the mechanics that I like but hurts my feet on rugged trails.. A "beefy" shoe protects my feet but doesn't allow for the mechanics I like because of excessive drop.

This shoe from Altra, however, gets everything perfect for my preferences. Zero drop allows for the barefoot mechanics I want...and it provides excellent protection at the same time. This is no minimalist shoe in that regard.

Sure, all else being equal, I would like to see it a bit lighter...but the thing is that if it were lighter, all else *wouldn't* be equal. It would compromise on protection or durability to get lighter. And it's not heavy as it is...just not what you would consider ultra lightweight like the "minimal" shoes.

I'm *finally* finding myself bombing down rooty and rocky trails with confidence...knowing that I have ample protection...and all while maintaining a midfoot strike like I prefer due to the zero drop. I've been waiting a looong time for this shoe!!

I find the fit to be true to size. I pretty much wear a 9.5 in everything and that feels just right in this shoe as well.
