Metolius Safe Tech Trad Climbing Harness - Large Review

First, if you're looking for a really light sport harness or a harness for the gym, then this probably isn't for you. This harness is really geared towards climbers putting their harness to the test on the crag. As a crag harness, the Safe Tech Trad really excels. Technically, you can feel safe that all the loops on the harness are rated strong enough to clip into just in case Murphy's law steps in and your A-game doesn't. The gear loops are large enough for at least 12 draws, a set of stoppers, a dozen extra biners, and half a dozen cams if you load your gear well. The harness doesn't need to be doubled-back, it just needs to be tightened enough for the waist clips to auto cinch. Comfort-wise, I've hung on the crag for up to an hour consecutively and climbed in the harness for up to five hours without any pain; this was the major draw for me as the fit was so cozy.

For background, I've been climbing for a dozen years mostly outside. This is my third harness through those years, and so far my favorite.

Premium Mountain Bike Shorts!! The fit is as expected. Materials are top quality feel and breathable. I have used these shorts on hot days and cool days, when you are thinking about the comfort of your gear when riding it is a big distraction to me. Some shorts fit to tight, have annoying velcro waist adjustments that stick to your jersey, start to slide down while riding etc. The shorts feel very comfortable to me. The ZOIC removable liner included is also an upgrade from the regular ether shorts, the liner is comfortable and does not ride to high up, they sit below the waist. Pockets are well designed especially the two hand pockets which are most used. The side leg pockets do their job, good for a map or maybe some GU. Who really puts a cell phone or keys in their pockets while riding anyway?!? I try not to fill my pockets with anything while riding, it's just another distraction for me. Worth the money. Best shorts I own. Premium Product!! Could use some other color options.

It has no durability in my experience.

I weigh 180#, and this thing tore itself apart the first time I yanked the yoke hard-right. It just folded under me. No crash, no ice.
It just folded, as if made of foil, or sun-bleached plastic.

Not: "It failed because I ran with it and bellied-down for a faster run."
Not: "It broke because I ran into a tree/other sledder."

Just failure, in the softest of user modes.

Not worthy of the name some of us remember from youth.

THE GOOD
1. It is super cute
2. lights and sound are really cute and do not go off in the night or without being prompted!
3. great size for my 4 year old
4. Very easy for our kids to learn on. Started very shaky but now goes faster than a motorized scooter while doing tricks... lol
5. the large wheels are very helpful when rolling in grass and carpet
6. the break in the back is easy to use and does not flip it when used.
7. Love the fold away option and it is easy to fold the handlebars up and down though not to easy for our son to do it and get hurt in the process.
8. It is light enough for our 4 year old to tote around but the three wheels make it stable even though it is so light weight.

The Bad
1. The sounds are loud - good outside... bad inside
2. The handle bar is NOT adjustable! Does not grow with your child.
3. Good up to 50lbs - so in most cases good until the age of 6.
4. This scooter is made by Kiddieland Toys which is based in Hong Kong. So if your breaks or has a defect like ours did you have to go the route of email to Hong Kong. Not very convenient and makes the whole process a pain. No US customer service available at this time.
5. The yellow part that holds the handle bar section up is cheap plastic that is held together by three screws. Any long term weight on it and the plastic will crack where it has been screwed together. Ours broke after about 3 months of use... just and FYI
6. Made in china
7. It is all plastic... you can tell the cheaper construction when compared to our 6 year olds Radio Flyer scooter... but that scooter also costs us twice as much as the Thomas scooter.

update: Our beloved Thomas scooter broke right where the handle bars connect to the base. I contacted customer service in Hong Kong via email and they quickly responded within 24hours and our new scooter (they do not sell parts) is already in route and free of charge due to us only having ours a short time before the cracked piece appeared. So great customer service!
