Safariland's model 6365 is the 1.5" belt drop version of their model 6360 which is a distinctive design that features their Automatic Locking System (ALS). Model 6280 is the base for this holster design as it utilizes the unique SLS rotating hood design for a smoother single motion draw and greater protection against attempted weapon takeaways. The 6365 is classified as a Level III Retention holster with the SLS as the primary security system; it also includes an internal locking device that retains the weapon in all directions when the primary device is open. This holster's design offers three distinct design differences from previous models. First, once the weapon is holstered, it "locks" it into place, providing an extra measure of security from standard Level II retention holsters. Second, the holsteris completely operable with the thumb, makingit very instinctive to use.. Finally, once the retetion devices are released, the weapon can be drawn straight out of the holster with no twisting or other motion required. The 6365 features a tensioning devce, molded sight track and SafariSuede lining to protect the gun 's sights and finish. Its wraparound construction and SafariLaminate Structure provide the strongest design combination available. This is a level 3 retention holster and once again this was bought by my husband for his work. He did a quick check on it and how it worked and he loves the apparently 4 safety features it has to keep the weapon locked in place. The shrouding hood is great for protecting you from a frontal attempt to take your weapon. The hard plastic rotating strap that locks the weapon in place can be quickly released and moves forward immediately and allows your thumb to fall on the second break that releases your weapon for a quick and smooth draw. However if you only want to be at the ready, the lock stays in place and is held firmly inside by the inner mechanism and releases immediately when the thumb break is depressed. Practice to develop the muscle movement but once mastered(it took less than 10 minutes to get used to the entire motion)it is a smooth draw. It is low riding and very comfortable and can be used with the paddle hoslter if that is your preference.
