I got these wheels because I live by the beach. I have a 13 ft sit on top ocean kayak. I needed something that would roll on sand and over a large dune. My kayak has scupper holes. If your Kayak doesn't have scuppers, I don't know that I would buy this particular set of wheels. There were no instruction stating the best way to strap the thing down. I tried several different methods: going around the entire body of the kayak with both straps, going around the entire body with one strap and through the scupper holes with the other strap, going through the scuppers across the width of the kayak and cris crossing through the scuppers. None of these worked, as soon as I hit a dune or had to turn on the sand it would fall off the wheels. Embarassing and nearly cause me to chuck this unit in the trash. I was sweating and covered in sand constantly tying to re-align the thing.

The Good News (and i don't know why it took me 6 tries to figure this out, perhaps smarter folks figured it out quicker): if you strap through each scupper and under the wheel bars length wise to the kayak (not width), this thing will work perfectly. It has been great ever since I started strapping it that way. I've never written a review before, but figured I may be able to save somebody the experimentation. If you don't have scuppers, you won't be able to strap it length wise and I have no idea how they would work unless you get ratchet straps and really tighten the kayak down.
